Once a curious child organizing neighborhood street theatre, sewing garments out of scraps, and publishing a weekly cul-de-sac newspaper, adult Caroline can happily proclaim that not much has changed. Now based in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, Caroline Godwin Couch is a multidisciplinary researcher, producer, and artist working in projects across education, arts, and culture.


Caroline graduated cum laude from Radboud University's Arts and Culture MA, focusing in the Creative Industries. As a Fulbright Scholarship student, her thesis explored how the mobilization of artistic infrastructures against climate change. Caroline now spends her time freelancing and as the Project Officer for Diversity and Inclusion for the ArtEZ University of the Art's Conservatorium in Arnhem.

As an arts administrator: she co-founded and managed Village Verein, an independent orchestra in lower Manhattan. As the group's Executive Director, she transformed the group from student project to regularly producing ensemble, presenting unique theatrical and concert programming.

As an artist, Caroline primarily writes, works with fiber, and plays music. Working with David Huang Mailman, the two form a composer/librettist duo. Their collaborative work has premiered at festivals and universities across the United States.

As a Wagnerian: she has attended the Bayreuther Festspiele as a stipendiatin as part of the Richard Wagner Scholarship Foundation. She sits on the Wagner Society of New York's Board of Directors.
